Richard O. Krueger, of West Bend, formerly of Lomira, was called home to be with the Lord on May 29, 2025, after celebrating his 104th Birthday, at Samaritan Health Care Center – The Fields in West Bend.
Richard was born on May 28, 1921, in Lomira to William “Bill” and Wilhemina “Minnie” Krueger (Enderle).
Richard attended grade school in a one-room schoolhouse in Lomira and graduated from Lomira High School in 1939. He attended all his class reunions, until he was the last person who could drive. Richard worked on the family farm in Lomira. Later, he worked at the feed mills in Lomira and Theresa. He was also a part-time electricians assistant, working alongside his friend, Armand Behm. Richard then went on to work at Gehl Company in West Bend for 17 years until he retired in 1983.
Richard was an active walker and biker and lived on his own until he was 97 years old. He enjoyed camping, fishing, family gatherings, and playing horseshoes, frisbee, and board games like Trivial Pursuit. He was an avid reader of military history, travel books, and Time Of Grace devotionals.
Richard was baptized and confirmed at his family’s church St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lomira where he was a longtime member. After moving to West Bend, he became a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Richard regularly attended Wednesday Morning Bible class at Good Shepherd, where he was also part of the lawn care team for several years.
Those Richard leaves behind to cherish his memory include his nieces and nephews, Norman Krueger Jr, Linda Krueger, Carl (Peggy) Krueger, and Bonnie Krueger; great-niece, Nicole (Matt) Bricco and their children, Brody, Nolan, Kira, Elijah, and Iris; and great-niece, Brittany (Barry) Mullins. He is further survived by cousins, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his two brothers, Vernon (Eleanor) Krueger and Norman (Bernice) Krueger; and many aunts and uncles.
VISITATION: Richard’s family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, June 6, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (777 Indiana Ave, West Bend, WI 53095)
SERVICE: A Funeral Service in remembrance of Richard will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Church with Pastor Robert Hein officiating. The burial and graveside service will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Lomira.
Memorials in Richard’s name can be directed to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Building Fund – West Bend.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at The Fields (especially Jeff) and Allay Hospice (especially Mikaela and Tracy) for their care and compassion, and also a special thank you to Reverends Hein, Janke, Mueller, and Schlicht for the spiritual care and pastoral visits.
