Richard Kruepke, of Jackson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22. He was born on July 15, 1954, to the late Howard and Annette Kruepke.
Richard is survived by his son, Andrew Kruepke. Survivors also include his siblings John (Marian) of Jackson, Robert (Linda) of Colgate, James (Barb) of West Bend, Thomas (Doreen) of Jackson, Bonnie of Jackson, and Nancy of West Bend; brother-and-sisters-in-laws: Karen Schmitz of West Bend, Linda Kruepke of West Bend, Steve Plier of Jackson; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Daniel "Mooch", Ken, Jeff Kruepke, and his sister, Mary Plier.
Richard was actively involved in the family business, Kruepke Trucking, as soon as his feet could reach the pedals. Over 45 years, he wore many hats including truck driver, carpet distribution manager in Georgia and Wisconsin, dispatcher, and safety and compliance director. Richard provided business mentorship to the third-generation of Kruepkes leading up to and after his retirement.
Outside of work he enjoyed fantasy football, trivia, grilling and telling stories at the Kruepke family pool. Throughout his life, he was part of the Kruepke Trucking bowling and baseball teams. He also proudly served the Village of Jackson as a volunteer firefighter and EMT throughout his younger years.
Richard was grateful for the life he lived, but his greatest joy by far was his son, Andy. Even though his last few years were challenging, having Andy at his side made each day more valued. His ups and downs, his laughter, and sadness were always shared. It brought him hope, it brought him strength, it brought him happiness. For that, he is forever grateful.
We are proud to call him "pops", our brother, our uncle, our co-worker, and our friend. He will be greatly missed.
The Schmidt Funeral Home of Jackson is serving the family. Messages for the family may be left in an online guestbook at www.schmidtfuneralhome.com.
