Richard E. (Dick) Kunesh, age 91 of Farmington, MN passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025. Dick leaves a legacy of service, devotion to family, and unforgettable experiences shared with countless students and loved ones.

Born on March 19, 1934, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Dick served his country in the United States Army before dedicating more than 30 years to the classroom. A serious but effective teacher, he believed every student deserved attention and opportunity. He was known for quietly seeking out those who needed extra support and for creating experiences his students would never forget - among them, leading teams to state and national BB gun competitions and organizing a beloved annual school carnival that raised funds for student activities.

On the home front, Dick share 65 years of marriage with his late wife Elizabeth (Betty). They enjoyed traveling with their 8 children all across the United States, turning long miles into lasting memories. He loved nothing more, and took great pride, in watching his children compete in their sporting and school events. In retirement, Dick and Betty continued to travel, socialize with new and forever friends, and enjoy a game of golf or two.

Those who knew Dick will remember a principled teacher, a devoted husband & father, and a man who made room for others to succeed. His legacy lives on in the students he guided, the family he cherished and the countless adventures he created for those he loved.

Dick is survived by his children, Mary (Curt) Hokanson, Therese Tornow, Charlie Kunesh, Maureen Vetell, Dave Kunesh, and Steven Kunesh; 21 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren; brother Howard (Joan) Kunesh and numerous other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Elizabeth, by sons Ernie Kunesh and Tom Kunesh, and son-in-law Rob Vetell.

Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Saturday October 4, 2025 at the White Funeral Home, 901 3rd St., Farmington with a gathering of family and friends starting at 10 AM.

Private Interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery, at a later date.
