Richard "Richie" McKay of Hicksville, NY, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, at the age of 73.

Richie grew up in Bellerose, NY, attending St. Gregory the Great Elementary School and Martin Van Buren High School. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy and went on to work for the telephone company. He later retired from the NYC Sanitation Department after decades of service and continued working as a school bus driver post-retirement.

A devoted Mets fan who rarely missed a game, Richie also loved ocean fishing and cherished summers spent in Montauk with his loving wife.

Richie is survived by his brother, Thomas McKay; sister, Theresa Concannon; and brother-in-law, Joseph Concannon. He is also survived by his nieces and nephew, Melissa McKay-Daily, Colleen Kerfoot, Kerri McKay, Kathleen McKay-DeBenedetto, Lauren LaMattina, Megan Concannon, and Brian Concannon; as well as his great-nephew, great-nieces, and many cousins. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Thomas J. McKay and Margaret F. McKay; sister-in-law, Mary P. McKay; and his devoted wife of over 40 years, Sharon (née Eisner).
