Shocked and Deeply Sad to hear Dr. Miller has passed away. He was my advisor during my PhD at Clemson (2002-2006). He was not just my advisor but a great mentor and friend. The entire Clemson experience for me was memorable, beautiful and wonderful, thanks to the kindness, generous and inspiring personality of Dr. Miller. He was truly a great human with always a smile and encouragement for his students. Our talks ranged from academics to philosophy to Spirituality. He was very instrumental in molding my thoughts and career at that point of time in my life. Eternally indebted and grateful for all he has done for me and all his students. My deepest condolences for his family. May His Soul Rest in Peace.

I am short of words to express the shock I experienced upon hearing this news. Dr. Miller was on my PhD committee, and always supported me during my graduate studies at Clemson ME, may it be computational research advice, encouragement to keep going ahead in the research whatsoever, or teaching of coursework like CFD and turbulent flows. I will always remember him as one of the most patient, calm and coolest professors of the Department in my times. He was the first professor who taught me the true essence of an incompressible flow (Often wrongly defined as a constant density flow) and that there exist only 2 modes of heat transfer. He has inculcated the habit of creating an informal yet rigorous teaching environment in me, which helps me build a rapport with my students today. I will miss him. My deepest condolences to Dr. Miller's family, and wish that his soul rests in peace

I am still shaken to my core with the fact that he is gone... He was one of the greatest persons I have known in my life. It was truly a pleasure to be his student all those years (from 2009-2016) at Clemson University. He will be deeply missed. I am so sorry for your loss.

When I was at Clemson (2002-2006) I had three classes which Dr. Miller taught. He was honestly one of the best professors. He genuinely cared about his students, and was good at sharing his knowledge. This was easy to see, which is why I intentionally registered for three of his classes. For years now I have worked with engineering co-ops from Clemson. I have often recommended Dr. Miller to them as a professor. I learned of Dr. Miller's passing from our current Clemson co-op. I was truly shocked & disheartened. I'll be praying for his family. May God provide them much grace and peace that surpasses all understanding during this difficult time. As has been said by others here, he was a very kind person. This was clearly seen by those who only briefly knew him as their college professor.

I´m writing this note while I´m still in a state of shock. I don´t even know how to express my feeling; writing and erasing, but still cannot describe my feeling. I'm sad to express my deepest condolences to his family and friends. Dr. Miller was my Ph.D. advisor who changed my life forever. Smart, kind, thoughtful, and memorable.

Dr. Miller was my committee. I am shocked to hear that he passed away very unexpectedly. He was a great professor and kind person, always be supportive.
We worked together on research in my Ph.D years at Clemson, published journal articles, discussed research ideas, went to conferences. I would say, other than my advisor, he provided the most help on my search.
Dr. Miller was a very friendly and fun person, someone you always want to talk to. You can discuss with him, not only about research, but also random chat about movies, life stories.
I hope his family can stay strong in this very difficult time.

I finished my PhD under Dr.Miller just recently. One thing I think all of his students will say that he was a kind and understanding human being. He would always encourage you when you were down, and you come away happy and motivated after a meeting with him. I have been in utter shock ever since, I have heard this news.

I really hope his family gets strength in this very difficult time for them.

It is my luck and pleasure to have Dr.Miller as my doctoral advisor, and my misfortune to lose him so early. I still remember the first day I went to his office in Flour Daniel Building,Clemson. It´s my first time to leave hometown, not to say it´s a foreign country in the opposite of the earth. I was shy standing there with blank mind, Dr.Miller let me sit down and gave me a bottle of water, kindly asked my life after I arrived USA and then show me to his research group, get me familiar with senior students, this greatly relieves my anxiety. During my 6 years in Clemson, he not only pointed me the right research direction, but also taught me to have critical thinking and try my best to solve problems independently, which are significant important in my later career. Even though Dr.Miller is gone, a part of him may live on in each of us and in turn, we can keep his spirit alive.
