Richard Phillip “Dick” Morrison, 95, of Indianapolis passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023. He was born April 25, 1928, to the late Eugene R. and Regina R. (Christian) Morrison.
Dick graduated from Cathedral High School in 1946 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was assigned to general headquarters in Tokyo, Japan (1950-1952).
After serving his country, Dick began his career working for Sexton Foods, and spent 25 years working for Ashland Chemical Company as a salesman until his retirement in 1992.
In 1953, he met Norma Jeanne Fitzpatrick on a blind date hayride and on July 16, 1955, he married the love of his life at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Dick is survived by his children Timothy Morrison and Michele (Richard) Darragh, and grandchildren Richard (Kelly) Darragh Jr., Steven (Jessica) Darragh, Allyson (Preston) Darragh, and three great-grandchildren, brother Edward T. Morrison, and sisters Rosemary I. Schritz and Christine E. Pierle.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years Norma Jeanne Morrison, and his siblings Robert J. Morrison, M. Patricia Boarman, Frances R. Geller, and Bernard G. Morrison.
Dick enjoyed swimming, golfing, cooking, playing cards with family and friends, and making memories with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His lifelong passion was drawing and painting. He was known for his beautiful landscape paintings and the annual hand-painted Christmas cards, cherished by all who received them. Dick was also quite the storyteller. Every family gathering was filled with stories from his youth with his brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The man had the memory of an elephant. He remembered everything!
Dick was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Everyone enjoyed his kind heart, great sense of humor, and endless stories. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
