Richard Jay Neff, lovingly known as "Rich" or "Dick," passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in Northville, Michigan, at the age of 84.

He was born on July 15, 1941, in Elkhart County, Indiana, to parents Emerson and Alice Neff (née Roach).

Richard loved being around people. He was truly in his element behind the bar; serving drinks, chatting with friends, and making everyone feel welcome. He spent many years working in the glass industry with PPG and later Environmental Glass, but bartending was always his true passion. He continued doing what he loved well into his late 70s at the Monaghan Knights of Columbus.

Richard made friends easily, and once you were his friend, you were a friend for life. He was an avid Detroit sports fan and loved cheering on his teams. He also stayed active in the community through the organizations he cared about most; he was a longtime member of the Elks, Moose Lodge, Eagles, and Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bob Neff and Eleanor Hawkins.

He is survived by his daughter, Christy (Dave) Roberts; his son, Richard Todd Neff; grandchildren, Zachary Roberts and Hunter (Lexi) Roberts; great-grandchildren, Graham Roberts and August Roberts; and sisters, Peggy Warner (née Neff), Nancy (Bob) Hawkins (née Neff), and Shirley Hochstetler (née Neff).

A Celebration of Life will be held later this fall to honor Richard.

Richard had a big personality, a witty sense of humor, and loved being with his friends and family. We're grateful that he is no longer suffering with his illness and has now found peace.
