Born Tuesday, June 1, 1943 in Sewickley, PA, he was the son of the late John G. Nemchik and the late Jane E. (Simons) Nemchik.
He graduated from Ambridge High School, Ambridge, PA in 1961 and from Edinboro University in 1965. Rich was a retired school teacher in Prince George's County. He received the Principal's Award in 1997 while teaching at Duvall High School and was a recipient of the School Award through the American Legion. Rich enjoyed traveling in and out of the country. He was an avid golfer and was a model train enthusiast, belonging to several model train organizations.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Nemchik and Nancy L. McBride; his significant other, love, and angel, Pattie Myers; niece, Hilary Nemchik Gruters and husband Brian; great nephew, Gabriel Gruters; and great niece, Bonnie Gruters.
Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD, Tuesday, June 28, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
The family requests the omission of flowers, and asks that memorial donations may be made to Shriners' Hospital for Children, 3551 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19101.
