Richard Nudd, also known by friends and family as Rich or Dick, passed
away on August 23, 2025, at his home in Walpole, Massachusetts, at the
age of 71. Born on June 30, 1954, Rich lived a life full of love,
laughter, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. He
leaves behind a legacy of kindness and joy that will forever resonate
in the hearts of his family and friends.
Rich was the cherished son of Howard and Alma Nudd of Foxboro, who
instilled in him the values of integrity, service, and compassion.
After graduating from Foxborough High School, he proudly served as a
member of the US Navy from 1972-1976, a commitment that shaped his
strong character and deep sense of duty. After his military service,
he went to work at the Foxboro Company, where he worked diligently
until its closure. Later, one of highlights of his career was playing
a crucial role in the opening of the Bass Pro Shops store in Foxboro
in 2007. Rich enjoyed sharing his passion for the outdoors in the
Camping and Outdoor Department, where he became well-known for his
culinary skills-especially his famous smoked dishes, which delighted
customers and staff alike.
Rich's commitment and passion for the Boy Scouts was evident
throughout his life, as he took on various leadership positions even
after his son reached the Rank of Eagle. He gladly shared his wealth
of knowledge with scouts and leaders alike. He believed deeply in the
importance of guiding young minds and fostering a spirit of adventure
and responsibility.
Family was the cornerstone of Rich's life. He is survived by his
loving son, Christopher Nudd, and his wife, Kayla, along with his
adored grandchildren, Josephine and Christopher Jr, all of Mendon,
Massachusetts. Rich's heart also belonged to his partner, Christine
Marques, of Attleboro, Massachusetts, who supported each other through
life's ups and downs. He maintained a friendship with his ex-wife,
Deborah Nudd, of Chaplin, Connecticut, showcasing his belief in the
importance of family ties. He also leaves behind a sister, Elizabeth
Nudd, of Florida.
Rich had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He
thrived on the joy that family gatherings brought, especially during
the holidays. Thanksgiving was his favorite; he took great pride in
cooking the turkey and cherished the moments spent with his
grandchildren as they prepared the mashed potatoes together. The
dining room table was always alive with stories, laughter and smiles.
As a passionate New England Patriots fan, Sundays were a special time
for Rich, filled with excitement as he cheered for his team.
A private funeral service will be held to honor Rich's life,
reflecting the intimacy and warmth he brought to those he loved. His
gentle nature, kindness, and warm smile will be fondly remembered by
all who had the privilege of knowing him.. While we mourn his passing,
we celebrate the incredible life he lived and the profound impact he
made on everyone around him. Rich Nudd may no longer be with us in
body, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
Donations in his honor can be made to the Tunnels to Towers
Foundation, which supports First Responders and Veterans.
