Richard "Beef" Madison Olah, 52, of Moyock, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 2, 2023.
Rich was truly larger than life and made a memorable impression on everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. He was a loving son and brother, devoted husband, and dedicated Dad to his stepchildren. Rich was a lifelong football fan and could always be found rooting for Florida State and the Raiders. When he wasn't watching football, he was lifting weights, listening to music, and making everyone around him laugh.
After being born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia, Rich won the BMX Biking National Championship in 1991 and was training with the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) to become a professional wrestler with his infamous nickname "BEEF". He later graduated from Old Dominion University where he served as President of the Young Republicans and became a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Rich spent years working as a construction Superintendent until becoming disabled from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). He was a strong man with a soft heart, and after suffering from CTE, which is common in wrestlers and other athletes, his wish was for his brain to be donated to the Boston University Legacy Foundation for medical research and education into the degenerative disease. Rich has touched the hearts of so many people throughout his time here on earth and leaves behind a legacy to be honored and cherished.
Rich is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Patricia Olah Carmack; and father, Richard Noble. Left to carry forth his legacy are his loving wife, Elizabeth Olah of Moyock, NC; sister, Stephanie Noble (daughter, Shylah Harrell) of Portsmouth, VA; brothers, Michael Howard (wife, Anna, daughters, Lauren and Whitney Howard) of Portsmouth, VA, Kent Czerwinski of Chesapeake, VA, and Billy Feamster (wife, Tonya, sons, Will and Matt Feamster) also of Portsmouth, VA; step children Taylor Richardson of Jacksonville, FL, Alec Richardson of Phoenix, AZ, Zachary Morgan and Gabriel Morgan both of Dublin, Ireland; in-laws Blaine Pinney (wife, Paula) of The Villages, FL; Andrew Stofanik (wife, Kay, sons, Drew and Nick Stofanik) also of The Villages, FL; as well as numerous other family members and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Crittenden, Eclipse & Hobson Ruritan Club, 9991 Eclipse Drive, Suffolk, VA 23433, followed by a Whiskey toast and Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m. Food and drink will be provided.
In Lieu of flowers, please make charitable donations to the Boston University Concussion Legacy Foundation, in his memory at https://concussionfoundation.org.
