Richard E. Orovitz, 71, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully Friday, November 14, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Born June 11, 1954, in Toledo, he was the son of Eugene and Mary (Arrigo) Orovitz.
A 1972 graduate of Cardinal Stritch High School, Rick dedicated 35 years of service to the Ohio Department of Transportation, retiring as a traffic control project manager in 2012. In retirement, Rick worked 12 years as a lift gate operator at the Port Clinton Drawbridge until 2024. He was also deeply committed to his community, serving on the Oregon Zoning Board of Appeals and the Planning Commission.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Vicky; his children, Brittany Orovitz (James Hill) and Alex Orovitz; and his cherished grandchildren, Liam, Harper, and Jocelyn. He is also survived by his sisters, Vivian Garber and Marilyn Shaffer; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply. Preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jeanette Pollauf; and five infant siblings.
The family will receive friends at the Eggleston Minert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road Monday, November 24, 2025, from 4:00 pm until celebration of life service at 7:00 pm. Private interment: Lake Township Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Oregon Health & Welfare Christmas Basket Program.
