It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard Amos Pettus Jr., who departed this life on July 28, 2025.
Born on July 2, 1949, Richard was the cherished son of Richard Pettus Sr. Originally from Salem, Alabama, he moved to Tacoma, Washington with his father and brother. He graduated from Stadium High School, where he began shaping a life rooted in hard work, faith, and compassion.
Richard dedicated his career to serving others, working as a truck driver, caregiver, and at group homes. His work reflected his deep sense of responsibility and care for those in need.
Introduced to Christ by his beloved Aunt Alice Stevenson, Richard's spiritual journey blossomed into a lifelong devotion. He became a deacon in his church and was passionate about sharing the gospel. His ministry was simple yet profound-he gave out "daily bread," both in the form of scripture and sustenance, offering hope and encouragement to everyone he met.
Richard will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his gentle spirit, and his commitment to lifting others up. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the love he gave so freely.
He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Pettus Sr., and is survived by his wife Linda Pettus, his children Rojay, Jemaine and Lenaya Pettus of Tacoma and his brother Ralph Pettus and a host of family and friends who will continue to honor his memory.
