Richard Pitera Obituary
Richard was a proud Air Force veteran and Bronze Star recipient, serving his country with honor and dedication. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry from St. John's University, reflecting a lifelong curiosity and love of learning.
He was known by many monikers-son, brother, husband, father, grandpa and friend. Richard loved his family fiercely and his friends deeply, and he was known for his wonderful sense of humor-quick with a joke, a familiar smirk, and a magnetic and larger-than-life personality that drew people.
Committed to community service and helping others throughout his life, Richard was generous with his time, care, and compassion. He supported many causes close to his heart, including the Camp Comfort and Rescue Society for springer spaniel dogs. He was a proud member of the American Legion, where he gave his time and formed many close friendships.
Richard was a passionate man who embraced novelty and adventure throughout his life. He enjoyed art and sports, spent time duck hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and was especially famous among family and friends for his homemade pies. His love, humor, and presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Richard Pitera will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
