Pittsford, NY - February 24, 2025 at the age of 81.
Predeceased by parents, George and Helen Powers; sister, Carolyn Blind. Survived by wife, Bethel; daughter, Rachel (Miguel) Delgado; grandchildren, Ismael, Andrew and Michael; nieces, nephews, beloved family and many friends.
Richard graduated from Eastridge High School, earned his Bachelor's degree from St. John Fisher University, and went on to earn his Master's degree from the University of Rochester. He spent most of his working years as an administrator at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
After his retirement, Richard, a lifelong car enthusiast, became a vintage car racer. He spent 20 wonderful years racing his 1962 MGA at Watkins Glen and many other tracks across the country. He was honored in 2019 with induction into the Watkins Glen Walk of Fame. Throughout his lifetime, Richard and his family enjoyed membership in many local and national car clubs.
Richard, a former jazz saxophonist, loved music and enjoyed attending local concerts. He also had a deep interest in audio equipment and spoke nationally on his extensive knowledge of Stromberg-Carlson equipment.
Friends may call to the funeral home (2305 Monroe Avenue) Friday, March 7 from 4-7 pm. A memorial service will be held 10 am, Saturday, March 8 at the funeral home, interment to follow at Irondequoit Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Dick's memory to WGMC Jazz 90.1, the International Motor Racing Research Center, or the HealthWell Foundation.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I enjoyed hearing about all of the car adventures, Watkins Glen, and seeing Richard from time to time at SON and at our holiday parties.
