Richard (Dick) Lorenzo Seibert, age 85, of Waukee, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, at EveryStep Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa. Born March 29, 1939, in Albia, Iowa, to George Seibert and Teresa Mae Benton Seibert, Richard lived a life full of dedication, service, and love.
After attending Albia Schools, Richard graduated from Albia High School in the class of 1957. His early years were marked by hard work as a newspaper delivery person for the Des Moines Register and Tribune. His sense of duty lead him to join the Army Reserves, where he served for six years.

He operated the Pester Derby station on Vine Street in West Des Moines and was known fondly as "Derby Dick", he also made his mark as an auctioneer in Granger, Iowa.

Additionally, Richard leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Stephanie Berry, Taylor Berry, Bailey Evans, Marshall Sharp, RaeAnn Sullivan, and Shannon Carroll, along with five adored great-grandchildren: Hudson Moos, Everlee Moos, Paislee Berry, Joslyn Evans, and Julian Evans. His sister, Georgina Beary of Cedar Rapids also survives him.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Frances Weeks, Bobbie Seibert, Jack Seibert, Calvin Seibert, James Seibert, and Kathryn Burkman.
A memorial service to celebrate Richard's life will be held on January 11, 2025, at Grace United Methodist Church, located at 3700 Cottage Grove, Des Moines. Visitation will begin at 10:00am., followed by services at 11:00am. A luncheon will follow the service. Richard's remains will be laid to rest at Mitchellville Cemetery in the spring of 2025 after cremation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to EveryStep Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa, or to the Animal Rescue League (ARL).
Richard will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family and his tireless work ethic. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

My heartfelt condolences to Richard's family & loved ones. He was such a big help to my mom while she lived at Thomas Place, and to our family (assisting us with relocating many of her furnishings to other residents in the complex - he was friends with nearly everyone there!) prior to her passing.
We had a lot of conversations about our life experiences, and I looked forward to & enjoyed each chance I got to visit with him.
May you all find comfort in your memories of him. God bless.
