Richard Francis Taylor Jr, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. He was born on May 25, 1944, in Long Beach, CA, to Richard F. Taylor Sr and Francis A. Taylor.
Rick graduated from New Canaan High School in Connecticut, earned his bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Utah. While working for Del Monte, earned his master's degree in business administration from Golden State University. After many successful years with Del Monte, Rick transitioned to work for Johnson & Johnson until his retirement.
As a young man, Rick served a two-year mission in the Long Beach, CA, area for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His mission became the stepping-stone for his life of service. Rick always extended a kind hand to people in need and knew how to make them feel loved and important. Over the years he mentored many individuals, who became like family to him. He was a man of great faith and was always willing to share his knowledge and testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ as he loved and cared for people around him. He loved the Lord and dedicated his life to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in the Oakland, California, Temple for 20 years.
On June 16, 1969, he married the love of his life, Janis Miller, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they had 3 daughters, Vicki, Rebecca and Debbie. He often referred to them as "Rick and his chicks". His greatest joy was his family. He always expressed how proud he was of each one of them.
Rick had a great sense of humor. He was known for his quick wit, good pranks, funny stories, and he loved a good dad joke. He maintained his sense of humor and positive attitude to the end and never murmured or complained.
Rick is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Janis Taylor, and his three daughters, Vicki Taylor, Rebecca Campbell (Jesse), and Deborah Burke (Steven), along with four grandchildren: Cody Campbell, Courtney Campbell, Caitlyn Campbell, and Taylor Burke. He is also survived by his siblings, Dennis Taylor, Jennifer Acree, and Janet Lysko. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard F. Taylor Sr, his mother, Francis A. Taylor, and his brother, Michael Taylor.
The family is very grateful to all the medical staff that worked with Rick over the years, especially Dr. Ross Pirkle, who was his primary care physician for many years. A special thank you to the staff at Stonebrook for their beautiful and tender care of Rick over the past several months.
A private family service will be held in Rick's honor.
