Richard D. Thurman, 72, of North Vernon, passed away at 10:12 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
Born October 9, 1949, in Barren County, Kentucky, he was the son of David W. and Minnie Eunice (Cary) Thurman.
Richard enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, and smoking a pipe. He loved being outdoors, sitting on his front porch, and his cat, China.
Richard is survived by his brother, Leonard Thurman of Cloverdale; sisters, Mary (Clem) Maga and Betty Ritter, both of Indianapolis; many nieces and nephews; and all his family, friends, and caregivers with Res-Care.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wayne and Douglas Thurman; sister, Carol Ann Thurman; and brother in-law, Tom Ritter.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery.
