Richard Uhrig, 70 of Freehold, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at his home surrounded by the love of his family..
Born Sunday, September 13, 1953 in Jersey City, New Jersey, Richard was the son of the late Ralph and Camille Uhrig.
Richard would move to Old Bridge at a young age. As a young boy in Old Bridge Richard was active in the Boy Scouts and earned Eagle Scout. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in South Amboy.
Richard worked as a construction superintendent and most recently worked for the G. William Group. Richie was heavily involved with a lot of the reconstruction in New York. Some of his major projects were the new Yankee Stadium and rebuilding after the attacks of 911. Richard enjoyed spending time fishing, and entertaining at his home. He liked taking trips to Las Vegas and dining out at good restaurants. Whenever someone needed a helping hand Richard always volunteered his time. Richard loved being with his family the most, especially with his daughter Lily. He was a loving and caring man who will be missed by all those that love him.
Richard is survived by his beloved daughter Lily Camille Uhrig, by his siblings, Robert Uhrig and his wife Amy, Thomas Uhrig, and Donna Wetstein, by his nieces and nephews, Amanda Gulkis and her husband Blake, Samantha Uhrig, Amanda Schulman, Melissa Schulman, Tyler Uhrig, Zachary Wetstein, Josh Wetstein, his great nephew Everett Gulkis, and by the mother of his daughter Darlene Branda, and by his step sons Thomas and Nick Coniglio.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals & Cremation Services Inc., 113 Main Street, Matawan, New Jersey.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday March 22, 2024 at 10:00 am at Most Holy Redeemer Church, 133 Amboy Rd, Matawan, NJ. Entombment to follow at Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel, NJ.
