Richard "Dick" Watson, 74, of Gas City, passed away at 7:45 am on Friday, December 19, 2025, in his home. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Sunday, April 8, 1951, to Fredrick and Hazel (Stanley) Watson. On April 16, 1971, he married Kim Mauller, who survives.
Dick graduated from Fairmount High School and enjoyed working on cars in his younger years, especially his 1965 Mustang. He also liked going on the computer. More than anything, Dick loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He had a special place in his heart for the newest addition to the family, his great-granddaughter whom he lovingly nicknamed "rotten-stuff."
In addition to his loving wife, Kim, Dick is survived by his son, Shane Watson of Marion; daughter, Nicole (BeShaun) Richard of Gas City; grandsons, Wesley Watson and Darius Ainsworth; granddaughter, Alyssa (Dakota) Dudley; great-granddaughter, Layla "Rotten-stuff" Dudley; brother, Chriss Watson; sisters, Kay (Ray) Williams and Kathie Thrush; in-laws, Bill Mauller and Jon (Robin) Mauller; plus, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fredrick Watson; mother, Hazel Watson; and sister, Kimberly Teegarden.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN 46933.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Dick's life will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Gas City.
