Richard James Wuethrich passed peacefully at home in Neenah, Wisconsin on November 14, 2024, at the age of 90. He was born on July 7, 1934, to Alfred and Anna Maria Louise (Luebke) Wuethrich.
Richard was a lifelong faithful and active member of Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, where he was baptized and confirmed. He attended UWO for elementary school and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1952. He enlisted in the Navy and became a Radioman Striker. He was proud to have served aboard the U.S.S. Valley Forge tracking submarines in the North Atlantic. He graduated from Valparaiso University in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Richard worked as a Mechanical Engineer for 3-M in St. Paul, MN and Kimberly Clark in Neenah, WI, Niagara Falls, NY, and Sao Paulo, Brazil. He enjoyed downhill skiing, golf and travelling with family. While living in Florida, he volunteered at the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. When Richard moved back to Wisconsin, he attended all of his grandchildren’s school and extracurricular events, never missing a track meet, soccer game, or horse show.
He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Stabler, grandchildren, Alexandra Lynn McDonald and Zachary James McDonald, nieces and nephews, Bonny (David) Marek, Terry (Diane) Wuethrich, and Wendy (Daniel) Kierstead.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Gilbert Wuethrich and Kermit Wuethrich, Sisters-in-law, Gertrude Wuethrich and Carol Wuethrich, nephews, Mark Wuethrich and Stephen Wuethrich, and former spouse, Bonnie Wright Wuethrich.
Visitation will be held from 1pm to 2pm on Wednesday, November 20th at Lake View Memorial Chapel, 2786 Algoma Blvd. in Oshkosh. A service with Pastor Jon Gallatin officiating will start at 2 pm. Burial to immediately follow.
