Richard G. York, 79, of Hopedale passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2024 in Countryside Healthcare, Milford. He was the husband of Brenda E. (Tingley) York.
He was born in Milford in 1945 and grew up in Mendon. He was the son of the late Harry C. and M. Lillian (Soderlund) York and a graduate of Nipmuc High School.
A precise and detail-oriented man, Mr. York had worked for many years at Digital Electronics Corp. in Maynard and had previously worked for GE/ Telecron in Ashland and the former Draper Corporation in Hopedale.
In earlier years, he enjoyed bowling, golfing and the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
In addition to his wife Brenda of 60 years, he is survived by his daughter, Meredith E. Wheeler of Uxbridge; a son-in-law, Kent R. Maynard of Hopedale; a brother, Harry C. York, III of Medway; two granddaughters, Heather M. Denver and her husband Jake of Johnston, RI and Jennifer N. Maynard and her companion Braydin Rood of Hopedale and a great-granddaughter, Rowan E. Denver. He was predeceased by a daughter Susanna Maynard and a son-in-law, Mark Wheeler.
Visiting hours will be Monday, August 19, 2024 from 5 – 7 PM in the Buma-Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress Street, Milford.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 11 AM in the funeral home.
Burial will immediately follow in Hopedale Village Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
