Rick Sampson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bosse Funeral Home, Inc. - Louisville on Mar. 7, 2026.
Rick Sampson passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with illness.

Though his final years of his life were marked by pain and the limitations of being homebound, his spirit remained steadfast, and his love for his family unwavering.

He found joy in the simple comforts of life. He was a devoted fan of classic television and western movies, often revisiting old favorites that brought him both laughter and a sense of nostalgia of a simpler time. He followed politics closely and was deeply patriotic, holding firm to his beliefs and proudly supporting President Trump. His love for his country was not just political – it was personal and heartfelt.

Even on his hardest days, when pain could have easily overtaken him, he found purpose in small acts of care. One of his greatest pleasures was making his homemade vegetable soup – a simple dish that brought him comfort and a sense of accomplishment. It was more than soup; it was his way of contributing, of nurturing, of continuing to give, even when life had taken much from him, physically.

Above all he loved his wife Lorrie with a depth that words can scarcely capture. His devotion was constant and true. He cherished his brothers Michael and Gary; he treasured and looked forward to their visits - he loved reminiscing with them about their childhood. He often spoke of the things he wished he could still do with us – traveling, going to the movies, spending the day at Churchill Downs, going to a Blues Festival or just going to spend an afternoon with family and friends. He longed to enjoy those experiences again, the ordinary pleasures of life that so many of us take for granted.

Though illness confined his body, it never confined his heart. He carried hope, memories and love for the life he wished to share more fully with those closest to him.

He will be remembered for his steadfast beliefs, his love and faith in Jesus Christ, his enduring love and the quiet strength he showed through suffering. His absence leaves a space that cannot ever be filled, but his love and loyalty remains – steady, certain and everlasting.

Rick is deeply missed already and will be forever cherished.

Rick is survived by his wife Lorrie, his brothers Michael (Susan) and Gary (Jill), his Aunt Judy Glass and countless nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Rick is predeceased by his loving parents Ralph and Vivian Sampson.

Visitation to be held on Saturday March 21, 2026 from 2-4PM with a Memorial Service immediately 4-5PM at Bosse Funeral Home 1355 Ellison Ave Louisville KY 40204
