Riddick Marshall Jones (known as Marshall), 90, of Cumming, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home. Born in Suffolk, Virginia, Aug. 16, 1934. He was a devoted husband, father, and community member.

Riddick married his childhood sweetheart, Frances Yvonne Butler, in 1955. He owned a small gas station before being drafted into the Army the same year, where he proudly served until 1977, achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3 in missile air defense maintenance. His military career took him to various locations, including Norfolk, Virginia; Boston, Maryland; Greenland; Okinawa; El Paso, Texas; Germany and retired in 1977 from Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.

While living in Germany he became a Master Mason and remained a faithful member at Lineport Lodge for over 50 years.

After retiring from the Army, Marshall moved to Bumpus Mills, Tennessee, where he opened an appliance and hardware store. Once his first grandchild Luke was born he was from then on referred to as PawPaw.

In 1992, he passed the business to his son and relocated to Florida. There, he obtained his General Contractor’s license, leading him to build homes and commercial projects, including a condo complex in the Bahamas. His final project was the renowned Caliente Resort in Florida before retiring to Georgia.

Following the passing of his beloved wife, Frances, from cancer, Marshall found love again and married Valerie Bishop in 2010.

Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, Riddick Marshall Jones Sr. and Martha Rountree Jones, his sister Elizabeth Harrell, and his brother Ralph Amos.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie Bishop; his son, Riddick Marshall Jones III (Rick), and wife Paige; his daughter, Vicki Sylinda Jones, and husband Jeff; grandchildren Luke Marshall Jones and wife Nicki, and Tristan Melissa Jones; and great-grandchildren Melissa May Jones and Adam Marshall Jones, brother William (Bill) Joseph Jones and wife Mary Beth, and best friend Winthrop Whipple.

Marshall a.k.a. PawPaw will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his wry sense of humor, his impeccable advice on any subject, and his service to his country.
