Rita A. (St. Pierre) Keenan, 90, of Danvers, passed away on September 29, 2024 surrounded by her family at Kaplan Family Hospice House after a short illness. She was the wife of the late William F. Keenan with whom she shared 56 years of marriage prior to his passing.
Born in Salem on January 22, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Adelard and Cecile (Cote) St. Pierre. Rita was a longtime resident of Danvers and a communicant of Saint Richard Church. Rita had a long career as a licensed practical nurse having been employed with J. B. Thomas Hospital, North Shore Babies Hospital and Twin Oaks Nursing Home.
Rita was active within her community and enjoyed working at the Peabody Institute Library. She also volunteered for the Danvers Historical Society and the Council at Endicott Gardens where she and Bill created beautiful perennial beds. Rita loved spending time with "her girls" at the Danvers Senior Center. Rita especially loved spending time with her family who gathered faithfully at her home every Saturday. Most especially she loved her camp in Monson, Maine and when she could no longer take care of it on her own, passed it down to her children who enjoy it immensely.
She is survived by three children, Kathleen Silva and her husband Fernando of Gloucester, William Keenan and his wife Karen of Danvers and Timothy Keenan and his wife Rosa of Gloucester, six grandchildren, Jeffrey Silva (Emily), Kelsey D'Angelo (Brian), Jennifer Breznicky (Eric), Amy Chaves (Matthew), Megan Blomerth (Zachariah) and Karina Keenan, five great grandchildren, Kinsley Breznicky, Jacob, & Aria D'Angelo and MacKenzie and Landon Chaves. She also leaves her brother Raymond St. Pierre and sister-in-law Joan Keenan as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her great grandson Joseph Breznicki, brother Roger, sister-in-law Ninetta St. Pierre, nephew Steven St. Pierre, and brother-in-law John Keenan.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10AM on Thursday, October 3, 2024 in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rita's name to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923.

Just heard about Rita´s passing and wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. I work at the Library and very fondly remember Rita from there and also from seeing her around town walking her sweet granddog, Luke. Rite was such a lovely person.

I remember Rita for all the good she's done and taking care of us when we were little. I hope that all the family can remember the good times that they were blessed to share with their mother. Rest in peace.
