Rita Frances Lesnau, a beloved homemaker and dedicated community volunteer, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025, at the age of 97, in Sterling Heights, MI residence. Born in Detroit, MI, on Monday, February 6th, 1928, Rita lived a life rich in love, faith, and family.
A cherished mother, Rita is survived by her children: Thomas (Liz), Marge (Mark), Paul (Liz), Dennis (Carol), and James (Kim). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Katelyn, David, Kristen, Kim, Joe, Jonathan, Nicholas, and Eric, as well as her seven great-grandchildren. Rita was also blessed with the love of many nieces and nephews.
Rita was married on May 13, 1950, in Detroit to her loving husband, Joseph J. Lesnau until his passing in 1985. She is preceded also by her parents, Martin and Delis Mullahy; her sisters, Mary Charboneau and Margaret Charboneau; her brothers, Dennis (Violet) Mullahy and George Mullahy; and her sisters-in-law Louise Lesnau and Leona VanCoppenolle. She leaves behind her dear sisters-in-law Mary Rachid and Gertrude Myers.
Throughout her life, Rita was an active member of the Rosary Club at St. Isidore Catholic Church and spent many years volunteering with the American Cancer Society. Her dedication and generosity touched the lives of many, and she will be remembered for her unwavering kindness and selflessness.
A memorial service to honor Rita's life will be held at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Macomb, MI, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 10:00 am. There will be visiting starting at 9:30 am. Arrangements are being handled by Wasik Funeral Home in Shelby Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Rita's memory to the Capuchin's or St. Isidore Catholic Church.
Rita Frances Lesnau will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
