Rita "Sissy" Rodriguez was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 18, 1969 and went to be with The Lord, at the age of 55, on April 18, 2025 surrounded by her three loving children.
She spent the last 15 years working at Hard Rock Cafe where she was nicknamed "Rockin Rita," a nickname perfectly suited for the head-banging, music-loving, Harley-riding woman she was. She also worked at Salon Rita - a made-up salon since she was often found braiding the hair of her coworkers simply because they asked. There was never a quiet or dull moment if Rita was around. She loved playing pranks and making those around her laugh with her silly personality. Rita was known for bringing all the snacks and having whatever random item was needed in her purse - always the prepared one.
She was a devoted mother who always showed up for her children no matter what. Even into their adult years, without fail she sent daily prayers and good night text messages to all three of them. She showed her children what it meant to rely on their faith and trust in The Lord through life's highs and lows. She encouraged her children to enjoy life to the fullest and always lend a helping hand. Rita's greatest pride and joy were her six grandchildren whom she talked about to any and everyone who would listen. She was known for her sense of humor, kind heart, and generous giving spirit, but for also sticking up for others and taking no crap from anyone. Rita was not afraid to speak her mind and was always unapologetically herself regardless of those around her.
Rita is preceded in death by her mother, Reyna Rodriguez, and grandmother, Andrea Rodriguez. She is survived by her three children: Rafael Ramirez III, her "One and Only Son"; Raquel R. Ramirez, her "Favorite Daughter"; and Randi N. Ramirez, her "Beautiful Daughter;" her six grandchildren: Josiah A. Ramirez; Jaelynn N. Ramirez; Jaela A. Garza; Rafael Ramirez IV; Eliana M. Ramirez; and Giana G. Ramirez; her brothers: Joe Vitela Jr; and Fernando "Chachi" Vitela (Sandra); and the many "adopted" children she gained throughout the years - you know who you are.
Her children would like to give special acknowledgements to the entire Hard Rock Cafe family, near and far. Thank you for loving our mom and taking care of her over the years. You all were the family she chose and she definitely chose right. These past couple of weeks we got to experience firsthand the love and support you all have for our mom and we will never forget how you all surrounded us. To the Touchstone Hospice team, thank you for walking the end of life journey with us; albeit a brief journey, your team provided a great deal of comfort for us. Lastly, to her teams at MD Anderson in Houston, thank you from the bottoms of our hearts for giving us five and a half amazing years with our mom. We are forever thankful for each and every person we encountered during our time receiving care there.
Visitation services will be held Friday, April 25, 2025 from 4:00PM - 8:00PM at Castle Ridge Mortuary - North, located at 10901 W. Loop 1604 N Access Road, San Antonio, TX 78254. A small evening service will begin at 6:00PM.
