Rita Mae Margaret Usie Savoy
May 16, 1940 ~ November 4, 2025
Rita Mae Usie Savoy, 85, passed away on November 4, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Rita was a native and resident of Houma, LA.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 9:00am until service time at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Houma, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at 11:00am with burial taking place in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.
Rita Mae Usie Savoy, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Rita is survived by her husband of sixty years, Thomas "Dude" Savoy; daughter, Monica Blanchard; son, Tyson Savoy (Anita); grandsons, Ryan Blanchard, Spencer Savoy, and Ross Blanchard (Shelly Authement); great-grandchildren, Paisley Blanchard, Braxton Savoy, and Kaylee Blanchard.
Rita is preceded in passing by her parents, Clifton and Iva Usie; brother, Eugene "Bullet" Usie.
Rita is a 1958 graduate of St. Frances High school.
After high school Rita worked at South Central Bell for several years before having her first child. Thereafter she was a stay at home mom and homemaker. Rita volunteered her time as a CCD teacher, substitute teacher and volunteer at her children's schools.
Socially, Rita was a past member of her local garden club, Krewe of Aphrodite (of which she served as a board member), a charter member of the Krewe of Cleopatra and a member of the Terrebonne Enhancement Committee.
She was an avid golfer and served as tournament chairperson and entertainment chairperson for the Ellendale Ladies Golf Association Tournament as well as being on the entertainment committee for Ellendale Country Club.
Rita kept up with her classmates and was always involved in planning their reunions. She enjoyed spending time with her Steel Magnolia group traveling and having monthly luncheons.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Haydel Memorial Hospice, especially Miss Patty Voss and a very special thank you to Dr. Russell Henry.
