Chauvin Funeral Home & Crematory - HoumaIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Phillip Estrada Jr. after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was a devoted husband, cherished "Pa Joe," and a respected law enforcement officer who passed on November 8, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on May 20, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Joseph spent his life dedicated to serving and protecting his community.
He was a proud husband to his beloved wife, Donna, with whom he shared 22 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter.
Joseph was an expert marksman who excelled at target shooting and an esteemed figure in the field of law enforcement. He served with honor for 20 years with the Houma Police Department and continued his commitment to justice for 6 years at the Terrebonne Parish District Attorney's Office. Beyond his career, he demonstrated his dedication to service through his commitment to the Marine Reserves, exemplifying the values of duty and honor.
While Joseph was dedicated to his professional life, he relished his downtime. He looked forward to vacations along the Gulf Coast and enjoyed playing slots at casinos. He had a fondness for action movies and crime shows, often watching favorites like "Criminal Minds" and "Blue Bloods."
He was also known for his unique sense of humor. Infamous for his black panther tattoo, he would crack a smile as people attempted to guess what the long faded artwork was actually supposed to be.
Friends and family are invited to join in honoring Joseph's legacy during a memorial on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Saint Francis de Sales Cemetery #2.
Joseph is survived by his wife Donna Eschete Fanguy Estrada; his son Bradley P. Estrada (Catherine); his daughters Deseree D. Smoot (Richard), Jeannette S. Bass (Robert), Toni K. Ferrel (Derek), Holly M. Potier (Derek), Sherrie D. Dupre (Michael), and Marla R. Savoie (Nicholas); his sister Carol H. Estrada; as well as 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Joseph was preceded in death by his son Jordan M. Estrada, his sister Gloria E. Savois, and his parents Joseph Phillip Estrada Sr. and Edwina Lambert Estrada.
Joseph Phillip Estrada Jr. leaves behind a rich legacy of love, service, and dedication. He will be deeply missed but will forever live on in our memories.
