He served in the US Marine Corp, was a graduate of Southern Illinois University, work included coal mining and school teaching.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Dorothy Adkins, three sisters Judith Crites, Patricia Hollandsworth, and Marilyn Rogers. Two brothers Bill Adkins and Jerry Adkins.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jerri; two sons Michael Edward (Linda) and Robert Matthew (Melisa), five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Three brothers, Mike Adkins, Steve Adkins and Tim Adkins.
Funeral will be 1 PM on Tuesday 7/22/2025 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis, KY. Tim Adkins and Steve Adkins will officiate. Visitation will be 11Am until service time at the funeral home. Burial in Pythian Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis, KY.
