Robert J. Barbel, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Peeps, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2023 after a brief illness, at the age of 80. He was born on October 31, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, to his parents Joseph and Mary Barbel (Kocsis).
Robert was a proud Navy veteran who served on the USS Barbel stationed in Hawaii. He dedicated his time and skills to his country, honorably serving in the Navy. Robert's commitment to serving others extended beyond his military duties. For 49 years, he worked tirelessly as a Dock Coordinator at Giant Eagle.
Outside of his work, Robert was a devoted family man. He shared an incredible bond with his wife, Carol, whom he was married to for 54 years. Their love and partnership were the foundation of their beautiful family. Robert was a loving and proud father to his children, Kimberly Barbel Watt, Deborah Barbel(deceased), Robert Barbel (Charmain), grandchildren Corey Watt (Lauren), Tyler Watt, Ashley Barbel (Michael Baker) and Michael Barbel (Brandy), Great-grandchildren Aurora, Zagreus, Evelyn, Theodore, Lilly, Maddie, and Robbie, and sister Bonnie Wulff (Andy). He also leaves behind his fur baby Willow.
In his free time, Robert loved spending time with his family, enjoying the simple pleasures of life. He also was an avid fisherman. Robert's memory will forever be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
To honor and remember Robert J. Barbel, a private funeral service will be held.
