Robert (Bob) Zacher, age 88, of Portland, Texas, passed away on July 30, 2024. Robert was born July 27, 1936, in Dacoma, Oklahoma, the eldest son of Robert and Violet Zacher. Bob was a shoe salesman for Richardson Shoes. This job brought him, his wife, and 2 sons to Texas in the 1970’s. During his early adult life, Bob was an avid bowler. He officiated basketball and baseball for over 50 years, and later in life enjoyed playing golf as much as possible.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Kenneth Zacher. Bob is survived by his sister, Linda (Lewis) Hubbel, his loving wife, Doris, of 66 years, and his 2 sons, Robert (Sherry) Zacher of Somerville, TN, and David (Lori) Zacher of Corpus Christi, TX. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held at Winsteads’ Funeral Home, 500 Wildcat Drive, Portland, TX, at 10:00 am, on Saturday, August 3, 2024. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the wonderful caregivers from Gifted Hands Private Provider Service, and the nurses and staff from Harbor Hospice. They took such loving and good care of him, and we are forever grateful to all of them.
