Obituary of Robert G. Brasseur
Robert G. "Bob" Brasseur
Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at My Michigan Medical Center of Saginaw. He was 88 years old. Robert Gilbert Brasseur was born on April 27, 1936 in Saginaw to Gilbert J. and Nina C. (Goodrow) Brasseur. He graduated from Holy Family High School in 1954. Bob then worked for a few years in Saginaw and then proudly served with the United States Marine Corps from 1956 until 1958. He returned to Saginaw and worked for Eaton Manufacturing Company, and then Saginaw Steering Gear, retiring after 30 years as an electrician. Bob was an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and was involved in many of the church ministries including a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and the Charismatic Renewal. During his busy life of raising a family and working full time, his dream and proudest accomplishment was owning and operating a model train store in Saginaw for over 50 years. He had the opportunity to run Brasseur Electric Trains with the love of his life, Nancy Ann (Smith) Brasseur. They celebrated 63 years of marriage before her passing on May 28, 2024. Bob fully embraced life and all of the joys celebrated here on earth, but his first love was Jesus, his second love was Nancy and his third love was Lionel Trains.
Bob was the proud and loving father of Dale Brasseur (Diana), Dean Brasseur (Katherine), David Brasseur (Mary); Grandfather of Erin Dolbee (John), Kiri, Jacob and Emily Brasseur, Meghan (Jacob Bieganski) Brasseur and Noah Brasseur; Great Grandfather of Ava and Mia Dolbee; Brother, Gerald "Jerry" Brasseur; sister-in-law, Bernadine "Bernie" Eaves; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Nancy, two infant boys; and brother, Jack G. Eaves.
FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy for Bob will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St, Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Fr. Steven M. Gavit will officiate. Military Honors under the auspices of United States Marine Corps and American Legion Post #22 and entombment will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery and Mausoleum, Saginaw.

I 1st met Bob when I was laid off from my electrician apprenticeship and sent to work at plant one at Steering Gear. We both worked for Mrs. Niven, our foreman. We talked about religion. Later I often saw him and his family at St. Thomas. I also visited him at his train store. My cousin Jim Fleming became his neighbor on Bradford. He was a "Gentleman's Gentleman ". May he R.I.P.
