Robert Brose Obituary
Born in Chicago to Joe and Emily (Zack) Brose, he attended Prosser Vocational High School, where he learned mechanical drafting. This led him to a job at Resinoid Engineering, where he also attended the Tool and Die Institute of Chicago. He earned the Apprentice of the Year award for 1970. Bob also attended Triton College and then went on to spend his 27-year career at Abbott Laboratories as a Senior Tool Engineer, retiring at age 55. He was fortunate to have retired early so he was able to enjoy lots of time with his family.
After retirement, Bob always had many projects. He had "folders for his folders" and was always designing and building something.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to his memory his loving wife, Charylene (Char), his treasured daughter Kristie (Terry) Gander, and his cherished grandchildren, Dawson (Brooke), Celia (Caleb), and Merrit Gander. Also surviving are three brothers, Joe (Judy), Ken (Jan), and Ed Brose, as well as his brother-in-law, Chuck (Sharon) Klein. Many nieces and nephews will profoundly feel his absence, including Jodi and Jessica Brose, Christina (Tom) Klein, Tony (Jeannie) Klein, Carlene (Jeff) Griffin, as well as a great-niece, Morgan (Dylan) Miller, and two great-nephews, Anthony (Aly) Klein and Griffin (Elayna) Klein. He will also be missed by a wide circle of friends.
He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend and impacted many lives. He will be greatly missed.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Peterson and Patch Funeral Home, 408 North Sheridan Road, Waukegan, Illinois, with visitation from 10:00 am to 12 Noon. What a shock. I want to extend my deepest condolences to Charlene and the extended Brose family. I had the privilege of working with Bob as a supplier to Abbott HPD. Bob was, without question, a master of his trade. He knew his products well and always provided clear and innovative direction to his suppliers. His colleagues and suppliers respected him. I also had the privilege of socializing with Bob for dinners and, on one occasion, a visit to the Wisconsin Dells. As there was no time to prepare for Bob´s departure, I cannot imagine how difficult this must be for Charlene and his family.
