Robert John Cardie, of Warminster, passed away on January 17, 2025 at the age of 90 surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on March 22, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Robert and the late Eva (née Durr). Robert J. Cardie (Bob) was the beloved husband of the late Catherine Anne (Kay) (nee Campbell); father of Claire Cardie and her husband David Skalak, Robert G. Cardie and his wife Carol, David Cardie, Paul Cardie and his wife Mary Lou, Joanne Stanton and her husband Marty, Meg Maley and her husband PJ, Peter Cardie, and Suzanne Durso and her husband Richard; grandfather of 24; great-grandfather of 12; brother-in-law of Claire Campbell, the late Sister Anne José, SSJ. He is also survived by many extended family members and the loving Meeks nieces and nephews.
Bob was raised in Philadelphia and graduated from North Catholic High School (Class of 1952) and LaSalle University. He met Kay at a dance hall and was married a few years later following his service in the U.S. Army. Bob and Kay initially lived in Northeast Philadelphia but moved in 1964 to Warminster to raise their growing family.
An avid Philadelphia sports fan, Bob instilled a love of sports in all of his children and spent most evenings and weekends attending their games and practices or coaching them in Warminster Pioneers football and Warminster township basketball and baseball. After retiring from a lifelong career in accounting at Sears, Roebuck and Co. he took up sports again himself, proudly playing in a men's softball league until he was 84.
Together with Kay, Bob was a dedicated parishioner and daily attendee of Mass at Nativity of Our Lord Church in Warminster. He was devoted until the end to Catherine Anne, the love of his life, and to keeping up with the lives of his children and grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to Robert's Funeral Mass on Saturday January 25, 2025. The viewing is from 10:00-10:50 a.m. and Mass begins at 11:00 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Church, located at 605 West Street Road Warminster, PA 18974. Interment on January 27th will be private.
Charitable donations in Robert's name can be made to Archbishop Wood High School | 655 York Rd. | Warminster, PA 18974 or Nativity of Our Lord Church (address above).
