Robert Malcolm Chatham III, 58, of Cottondale AL, passed away July 26, 2022 after a brief illness. Robert was born on August 28, 1963 to Robert M Chatham, Jr, and Mary Ann Chatham (Van Dyke) in Springfield, Missouri. Robert was a kind soul, who was known for his big heart. He had a contagious laugh, and a gentle spirit, helping anyone he saw in need. He made time to be there for everyone who reached out, providing caring, trustworthy, and sound counsel always. He simply wanted to brighten lives in his days and that he surely did. Peace and caring permeated him, and kindness felt like it was his middle name. Anyone who knew Rob knew that he was the most loving husband, father, sibling, and friend anyone could ask for. In May 2017 he married Susie Chatham (Kathryn German). He truly loved his daughter by choice, Gracie Chatham. He took the time when she turned 16 to take her on a father daughter date and gave her a ring, symbolizing a promise to herself and God that she would hold herself true until the right man came along. His love for the Lord was obvious to those who knew him. He was open about his faith and his belief. He used his God given ability to demonstrate the Lords love to others. He found the Lord at a time in his life, when he was at his lowest. He vowed if the Lord helped him live, he would live for him and he did just that. He attended Silver Springs New Hope Church in Springfield, Missouri, New Testament Christian Center in Montgomery, Alabama and most recently, Life Pointe Church of God in Cottondale, Alabama. He was a witness to all who knew him, many times using his own experiences in life to bring those whom he cared about closer to God. He leaves behind not only his wife and daughter, but 2 brothers Leonard and Deb (Vickery) Chatham, Charley and Becky Taylor along with a sister, Mary Jane Taylor. He has a host of nieces and nephews from both sides of his family. His extra brothers included: John Norstad, Mike Bertoglio, Clifford Jones, Rodney Gully, Danny Enlow, his family and mother, Anna Wright, Jim Sowards along with Emory and Tina Shoemaker and Mike and Cindy Flippo. He enjoyed many trips to the beach with his brother/sister in law, Kyle and Becky German, as well as with Kurt and LaVonda German. Truly, someone as special as Rob, will be missed. We know he is walking the streets of gold with Jesus. Services will be at the Life Pointe Church of God, Cottondale Alabama with Pastor Tony Mahathy officiating on Sunday, August 7th at 2pm. There will also be a service at Silver Springs New Hope Church, 1119 N National, Springfield Missouri on officiated by Danny Enlow. For those who knew Rob, you are also invited to attend our regular services at 11am at Life Pointe Church of God, located at 10051 US Hwy 11, Cottondale Alabama.
