Bob was married to my cousin Mickey whose father and mine were brothers. I am saddened to find out of his passing after there was no response from him these last 2 months. So, I checked to see if there was an obituary and sure enough there was. He and Mickey came often to Easley to visit us along with their dogs. He took good care of my cousin during her sickness and I will always love him for that and the man he was. After her passing he would visit with his cat, Dixie and during any potential bad weather and/or flooding. He was a good man, committed to Mickey and his friends from the Citadel. I miss both Bob and Mickey...may they rest in peace together again...cousin Susan.

I am so very sorry to have heard of your passing Smoky in mid February and just found a post with the link to this page. You and Mickey were close friends to my Dad and Mom. They loved you very much and now the group is back together again. I have enjoyed our texts back and forth since Dad Ana Mom passed. I wish we had been able to come and see you. Sending you love and hugs. RIP Judy Pyle Smith

Our love and sympathy to Smokey´s family and his beloved Citadel friends.
This is Peggy Maughlin Brock, daughter of J.B. Maughlin, one of the lifelong friends of the Class of 1960, F Company.
We have cherished memories of Mickey and Smokey at the many, wonderful Citadel Reunions we attended. They were always so warm, kind, and loads of fun!
One special memory - in the early 1990s, I worked in the U.S. Capitol - House side. Mickey and Smokey were in D.C., and I took them on a private tour of the Capitol. They arrived with a beautifully wrapped gift of bubble bath to thank me. For years, the three of us would laugh that this was truly a pre-9/11 moment to bring such a gift past security in the old days!
God Bless Smokey and Mickey -- He surely blessed us with them.

Bob was my brother-in-law. Early memories of Bob include first meeting Bob in my basement. He and Mickey were starting to date. Mickey was living in my basement. Another memory is of waving goodby to them as they pointed their little sports car West - leaving N.J. and heading towards Guam. I loved Bob, especially for taking such good care of Mickey in her last years. They are in my prayers now and forever.
