Robert D. Coats, 75, of Millville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 18, 2025 peacefully surrounded by his wife, children and granddaughter at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland.
Robert was born on July 26, 1949 in New London, CT to the late George Coats and Ethel Gray. He was the husband to Carol Sinkowitz Coats for the past 11 years. He attended and graduated from Wheeler High School in North Stonington, CT. Robert worked as a rigger for many years at General Dynamics Electric Boat and also owned and worked as a farmer at Hidden Acres in North Stonington, CT.
Robert (Bobby) Coats was a member of the New England Ox Teamsters all of his life and he enjoyed pulling oxen at all the New England Fairs and bringing home ribbons. He enjoyed dairy farming, loved karaoke and listening to country music. He was always a generous person and would help anyone in need. In his younger years, he enjoyed deer hunting and spending time with his father, George. He loved his dog, Angel, a chiweenie very much.
He is survived by; his wife, Carol Coats; children, Tammy Aguirre (Manny), Erik Huntelman (Stephanie) and Audrey Karcher (Jesse, Jr.); 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Nadine Mayhew (Edward); nephew, Justin Roode; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by; parents, George Coats and Ethel Gray; and sister, Phyllis Roode.
Bobby was loved, cherished and will be forever missed.
