Sanders Funeral Home - SmithfieldRobert (Bob) Paul Collier, took his last breath on earth and passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 10:43pm., surrounded by his wife and children.
Bob was born on June 5,1944 to Chester Burkett Collier and Anna Louise (Williams) Collier in Shirley, Indiana. He graduated from Madison Heights High School in Anderson, Indiana in 1962. On June 6, 1964, he married the love of his life, Loretta Carol Buchanan, and she survives. Bob attended classes at Ball State University until he was drafted to serve in the United States Army in 1968. He served proudly until 1970, when he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.
In 1977, he graduated from Johnson Bible College (now Johnson University) in Knoxville, Tennessee. He then began a 20-year life of service pastoring churches in Indiana, New Mexico and Tennessee. He then worked for the Tennessee Department of Adult Protective Services, and retired shortly after. He and Loretta moved to Clayton, North Carolina, where he lived out the remainder of his earthly life.
Bob was loved by everyone who met him. He loved to study the Word of God and wanted to know as much as he could about His Lord. He loved all kinds of music, but his favorites included hymns, southern gospel, and anything by Elvis. He also loved spending time with his family, especially around the dinner table, with some of his favorite delicacies including cherry pie and coffee.
Bob is survived by his wife, Loretta, and their three children, Kim (Jim) Shelton, Jenny (Jeff) Martin, and Jonathan (Cathy) Collier. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Christopher, Rebekah and Anna Shelton, Katie, Allie and Caleb Martin and Riley, Cameron and Adam Collier, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Crossroads Community Church, 4254 S. 00 E.W. in Kokomo, Indiana on October 18, 2025. 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Celebrate Recovery.
