Robert Thomas Conklin

Robert Thomas Conklin, 74, passed away on April 23, 2025. He was born and raised in Patterson, NJ, and was the son of the late Edward and Cecilia Conklin. He served over 35 years of active duty in the United States Navy and retired as a Force Master Chief. After his retirement the family opened an Irish Pub, Conklin's Irish Rover. Many good times spent with friends, music, good beer and great food. After five years and newly arriving grand-children it was time to change priorities. He had an Associates of science in general studies from Mohegan City Collage and a bachelor of arts in human relations management from Goldin Gate University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. He enjoyed his membership in the Muchachos Drum & Bugle Corps. Also he was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Knights of Columbus and Surface Navy Association.
He is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Kathleen M. Conklin; two daughters, Kelly K. Conklin and Colleen M. Conklin of Virginia Beach; a sister, Patricia O'Gara and her husband George of Rochester, NY; sister-in-law, Janice Conklin of Little Falls, NY; four grandchildren, Patrick, Emma, Moira, and William; as well as extended family members and good friends.
He was also preceded in death by his brother Edward J Conklin.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 9, from 5-7 pm with a vigil service beginning at 6 pm at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 10, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church at 11:00 am, followed by military honors. His interment will take place Tuesday, May 13, at 1:00 pm at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk.
