Robert Cook, a beloved lifelong resident of Metter, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on May 27, 1940, Robert was a cherished member of the community, known for his warm spirit and dedication to his family, faith, and friends.
A proud graduate of Metter High School, Class of 1959, Robert spent many years working as a skilled machinist at ITT Grinnell Foundry in Statesboro.
Robert was a devoted member of the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Chairman of the Men's Ministry. He was passionate about teaching the Senior Men's Sunday School Class and lending his voice to the church choir. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in all his endeavors.
An avid sports enthusiast, Robert loved cheering on his favorite teams: the Metter Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and Atlanta Falcons. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races. Outside of sports, Robert found joy in the great outdoors, spending countless hours fishing and hunting. He also took great pride in keeping his yards neatly mowed and landscaped.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Frances Cook; his son, Andy Cook, and daughter-in-law, Heather; his daughter, Tina Wells; his brother, Howard Cook, and sister-in-law, Emmie; his sister, Georgia Cheshire, and brother-in-law, Gene. He was a proud grandfather to Blitch Daniel, Tori Latham and her husband Jeremy, and Tucker Wells and his wife Baylee. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Wren Drake and Kinlee Latham, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Cook and Laura Pearl Dickey Cook; his mother-in-law, Alexia Ellis; and his brother, Herman Cook.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Robert's life at a funeral service on Monday, December 8, at 2:00 PM at Kennedy Funeral Home, Hooks Chapel of Metter. Following the service, Robert will be laid to rest at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 7, from 4-6 PM at Kennedy Funeral Home, Hooks Chapel of Metter.
