Obituary
SALEM – Mr. Robert Paul DiTroia 82, of Lowell, formerly of Peabody and Salem, died peacefully, Tuesday, July 4th, 2023.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Orest and Frances (Amenta) DiTroia. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School.
An honorably discharged veteran he served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War Era aboard the U.S.S. Putnam and during the Bay of Pigs invasion.
Mr. DiTroia began his professional career as a corrections officer at the old Salem Jail. He worked for many years as a Processor with the former Eastman Gelatin Company in Peabody until the time of his retirement.
A long-time resident of Salem, Robert was a member of the Christopher Columbus Society and the Lafayette Club both of Salem, he was also an active member of the Italian Community Club in Beverly. He had a love of sports, games of chance and horror movies. He was a great handicapper and enjoyed the races with his family and friends. He was happiest spending time surrounded by his family at a cookout or wintering in Ft. Myers, Florida. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Deanna DiTroia and her partner, Craig Georgoulis of Lowell, Rebecca Dyer of Hillsborough, NH and Jennifer LaFlamme and her husband Brendan of Hollis, NH, his 4 grandchildren, his brothers, Raymond DiTroia and his wife Nancy of Salem and Richard DiTroia and his wife Lisa of Georgia and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM, Friday, July 14th at 12 Noon, Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours prior to the service from 10 to 12 Noon.
