Robert "Humpy" Lee Doane, 84, of Dixon, IL, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Dixon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. He worked as a Carpenter for many years in both Dixon & Virginia. He also worked for Burlington Northern Railroad and the coal mines in West Virginia.
Robert was born on June 22, 1940, in Marion, VA, the son of Henry and Birdie (Billings) Doane. He was a big fan of both the Los Angeles Dodgers & Green Bay Packers. Humpy loved playing horse shoes and spending time with his family - especially his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Humpy is survived by 2 children; twin brother, David (Erna) Doane; sister-in-law, Mary Doane; six nieces and nephews, Sean (Amy) Doane, Stephanie (Chris) Dixon, Kristy (Shane) Harrington, Chance (Annie Bettenhausen) Doane, Jason Doane, Jimmy Doane; seven great-nieces and nephews, Riley Dixon, Emily Dixon, Jack Doane, Greta Harrington, Sophie Doane, Nora Harrington, Harry Doane; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Humpy was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elizabeth Williams; brother, James Doane; and nephew, Randall Lee Williams.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. Memorials may be directed to Gaffey Hospice.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
