Robert "Bob" Doiron, 71, a 45-year resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at Massachusetts General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Lawrence, Bob was the son of the late Robert (Bob) and Eleanor Doiron. He graduated from Central Catholic High School and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a BS in Civil Engineering. After college, he built a successful professional life with integrity and hard work and a family life filled with warmth, humor, and a deep sense of loyalty.
Bob was the devoted husband of Mary-Frances (Sullivan) Doiron with whom he shared 48 years of a marriage filled with laughter, commitment, and adventure.
He was the proud father of Sarah Doiron of Waltham, MA and Matthew Doiron (Nicole Doiron) of Redondo Beach, CA. Bob's most recent joys came from being "Papa" to his beloved grandchildren, Conor and Parker, who brought endless happiness to his final days.
Bob began his career as a construction engineer during the building of Seabrook Station. He then moved on to the business side of construction as he worked at Stone and Webster and earned an MBA at Northeastern University. He transitioned into corporate purchasing at Digital Equipment and retired as Vice President of Global Procurement after 23 years at Fidelity Investments. Bob's dedication and integrity earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
From birth, Bob was fortunate to spend every summer of his life in The Greenlands area of Plaice Cove in Hampton, NH in the cottage that his father built. There he spent blissful days at the beach, fostering his lifelong love of the ocean and creating friendships that lasted his entire life. Though hockey was his passion as a young man, later in life skiing dominated his winters. With Maryfran and their children at his side or "on his tails", Bob skied the White Mountains in Waterville Valley with side trips to Colorado, Utah, Austria and Switzerland.
Bob will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and unwavering devotion to his family. Nothing made him happier than having the family together whether on vacation, watching his beloved Boston sports teams or just hanging out. His legacy lives on in the love he shared and the countless memories he created.
Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 4 pm - 7 pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 10:30 am at St. Irene's Catholic Church, 181 East St., Carlisle, MA. KINDLY GATHER AT THE CHURCH. Interment will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob's name to the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports or a charity of your choice.
