Obituary published on Legacy.com by Castle Ridge Mortuary - West Military Dr. on Nov. 13, 2025.
We gather in loving memory to celebrate the life of Robert John Ernest Elliott, known affectionately to family and friends as Bob (Papa), who peacefully left this world for his heavenly home on November 10th, 2025. Born in Penketh, England, on April 1st, 1944, Bob's journey took him from his British roots to a life rich in love, service, and joy in
San Antonio, Texas. He shared 81 remarkable years with us, and his legacy is one of unwavering faith, laughter, and an abiding love for his family. Bob (Macklin) was the cherished husband of Sharon Elliott, the beloved father of Tonya (husband Bill) De An, Michelle, and Bobby, and the doting Papa to Steven, Mark, Jared, Abigail, Jacob, Logan, Joseph, Madison, RJ, Kaleb, and Sylar. His joy multiplied with the birth of seven great-grandchildren, each one of them a beacon of the love and wisdom he imparted. Bob's life was a testament to the enduring strength of family bonds and the joy of generational legacy.
A proud alumnus of Maryland University, Bob earned his Associate's degree which propelled him into a distinguished 26-year career in the United States Air Force. His commitment to his country did not cease with his military service; he continued to serve through government contracting with esteemed organizations such as BTAC, SAIC, and Leidos. His dedication was not just a profession but a call to duty, which he answered with honor and integrity.
In the spirit of Bob's motivational and uplifting outlook in life, we celebrate his journey with the words of the great Winston Churchill "success is not final; it is the courage to continue that counts" Bob lived by this creed facing each day with courage, grace, and a bit of humor.
His love for the Lord was the compass that guided him through life's ups and downs, and it is this faith that comforts us with the promise of a reunion in eternity.
A sports enthusiast through and through, Bob's passion for athletics knew no bounds. Whether playing football, basketball, or baseball in his younger years, or cheering on the Spurs and the Cowboys with an unwavering spirit, he found camaraderie and excitement in the world of sports. Equally, his affection for classic cars was not just a hobby but a connection to a bygone era that he loved to share with fellow enthusiasts.
Bob's intelligence, humor, and loving nature were the threads that wove the fabric of his being. His laughter was infectious, his wit was sharp, and his capacity for love knew no end. Bob's life was a continual outpouring of generosity and care that touched countless hearts and lives. Today, as we remember Bob (Papa), we hold onto the values he embodied and the memories he crafted with each one of us. His spirit lives on in the stories we share, the wisdom he imparted, and the love he so freely gave. While we will miss his earthly presence, Bob's legacy is everlasting. We take solace in knowing he is now at peace in his eternal home, a reward truly deserved for a life so well-lived. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched and the echos of his laughter will forever resonate in the memories we hold dear. Rest in peace our Bob, Dad, Papa until we meet again.
