Robert "Bob" Marshall Field, age 82 of Parlin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, surrounded by family. Mr. Field was born in Brooklyn, New York, a son of the late Joseph and Esther Field. He attended Brooklyn Technical High School and went on to study engineering and physics at The City College of New York and The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. For 40 years, Bob worked as a senior system programmer in advanced academic computing for The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and Rutgers University. Bob was an accomplished technologist and teacher whose passions included rooting for his hometown New York sports teams, swimming, chess, and reading books on higher order math.

Above all, Bob was a selfless and devoted parent to his four beloved godchildren, Simone Michelle Greenspan, Judith Nicole Greenspan, Joseph Robert Greenspan, and Olivia Barbara Greenspan, by whom he is survived. Bob had an unwavering commitment to the four of his godchildren, driving into Connecticut and New York every weekend for 36 years to spend time with them. His relentless devotion and guidance made him more of a parent than any title could convey. He will forever be remembered as a wellspring of love, support, and affection.

He is also survived by his lifelong friend Antoinette Mariam Greenspan and was predeceased by his brother, Larry Field.

Services will take place on Sunday, May 4th, 2025 at 11 a.m. from Sholom Chapel, 104 Myrtle Ave, Stamford, CT, with interment following at Loyalty Cemetery on Burroughs Road in Fairfield.
