Robert J. Fink, affectionately known as Bob, "Hoser," or "Jump Man" (a nickname sometimes playfully changed to "Junk Man"). Robert J. Fink passed away on July 13th, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of love, service, strength, and dedication. Robert was born April 11th, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio. Born as the middle child of Cletus John and Louise Fink, with two older brothers and two younger sisters, the Homesite Drive home was full of craftsmanship, artistry, and exploration. Robert proudly graduated from Northridge High School as captain of the football team, earning the superlative of "most aggressive", and president of his class all four years. Above all, Northridge is where he met the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Patricia Cromwell. They went on to have two children which were followed by 3 grandchildren.
A proud veteran, Robert served his country in the United States Marine Corps, MOS 2887 Counter Mortar Radar. He was deployed to Vietnam in 1969 in the 1st Marine Division. After returning home he furthered his education and graduated from Morehead State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Industrial Arts with an emphasis in Graphic Arts. Robert entered the Army ROTC as a graduate student and was commissioned as an officer of the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He was airborne qualified, Jump Master, and served in numerous capacities at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was stationed as far west as Arizona and as far east as Germany, with many stations in between. He retired with 23 years of active service.
After serving, he settled in Tipp City. Robert worked at Exhibit Concepts as the go-to supervisor for tradeshow installations for over 20 years. Here he made life-long friends that continued to be deep connections into his retirement.
Robert had an enduring love and appreciation for nature. He prioritized traveling the world with the people that he loved and was always driven to explore. He was excited by learning and was in consistent pursuit of new skills, innovations, forms of art, and hobbies. From forestry to photography, woodcarving to calligraphy, he approached each new endeavor with an inherent sense of mastery. He was fascinated with designing effective systems; he spent years at Fulton Farms building infrastructure that still stands today. Robert enjoyed life, inspiring others to follow their own pursuits with confidence.
A man of principle, Robert always endeavored to do right by his friends and family. He was a pillar of strength and determination, paired with an intuitive sense of those around him. He loved giving thoughtful gifts and curating elaborate surprises. His generosity extended to strangers, always willing to lend a hand.
Robert J. Fink leaves behind a wealth of revered memories and a profound impact on those fortunate to have known him. His fierce dedication to his life and the lives of others was an inspiration to feel and witness. His passion for life will not soon be forgotten. For God, Family, and Country. Semper Fi.
