Beloved and only son of Curtis and Margie Hayes Fontenot, graduated to his Heavenly home on Thursday, January 30, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 17, 1961, in Lake Charles where he resided until moving to Deridder. A graduate of LaGrange Senior High School, Keith was an avid lover of and a participant in Louisiana High School Rodeo. He competed in and excelled in two events: tie-down calf roping and steer wrestling and was State Champion in both events during his years of LHSR and State Champion of steer wrestling in LRA.
A true cowboy doesn’t only wear a hat-he lives it, and Keith lived it!! He was his daddy’s right-hand man working on the farm-building fences, working cattle, bailing hay, repairing equipment-it was the cowboy way of life for him and his two sidekicks.
Keith was a licensed master plumber who worked for over 30 years at Fontenot Plumbing and Heating, the family-owned business. He was also involved in the community having served on the Board of Directors for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 106.
He is survived by his two sons, Curtis Luke and Bailey Cade Fontenot; his wife of 28 years, Annette Fontenot; one adorable granddaughter, Lila Reign Fontenot; his mother, Margie Fontenot; two sisters, Dr. Cathi Fontenot of New Orleans and DeAnne Royer (Joe Bill); and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis L. Fontenot; a daughter, Jessica Ruth Fontenot; and a brother-in-law, Frank Modica.
The Fontenot family would like to extend thanks and appreciation to Dr. Chris Granger, Brighton Bridge Hospice, and heart felt “thank you’ s” to the Westwood Manor staff in Deridder.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Brighton Bridge Hospice, 213 B N 1st St., Oberlin, LA 70655.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, February 3, 2025, in the Moss Bluff Johnson Funeral Home chapel. His cousin, Pastor Steve Hayes from Corsicana, TX, will officiate. Burial will follow in the family cemetery, Fontenot Ranch Family Cemetery, in Deridder. Visitation will begin on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary to be recited at 7:30 PM and will continue on Monday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
