Mr. Robert "Bob" G. Gill of Ashley, IL, departed this life at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 1:32 A.M. He had attained the age of 85 years, 4 months and 26 days.
Mr. Gill was born on October 18, 1939, the son of Theodore and Helen (Kellerman) Gill. He was united in marriage to Theresa Kasban on October 18, 1962, in Radom, IL and she preceded him in death on March 21, 2023.
Bob proudly served with the United States Navy. He worked for the Pitt's Rock Quarry in Radom, IDOT in Jefferson County, IL, and he also farmed. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, IL, the DuBois Knights of Columbus and he served on the Washington County Board and the Ashley Township Board for many years. Bob enjoyed having a beer with friends, hunting outdoors, listening to Polka music, playing cards and fast pitch softball.
Left to mourn his passing are his 3 sons, Bobby Joe Gill of Ashley, IL, Kenny Gill and wife Maurya of Ashley, IL and Larry Gill and wife Kim of Nashville, IL; 7 grandchildren, Miranda (Barrett) Lloyd, Andy Gill, Braxton Gill, Ashlee (Shane) Street, Eric Gill, Logan (Jaci) Gill and Lacey (Austin) Edge; 7 great grandchildren, Mabry, Mason, Avery, Austyn, Sloane, Hadley and Sylvie; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 brothers, Raymond Paul (Marcella) Gill and William (Loretta) Gill; 2 sisters, Mary Lee (Edward) Smugala and Alice (Thomas) Ward.
In accordance with the wishes of Bob and his family, cremation was performed, and a Memorial Mass will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, IL on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 11 A.M. with Fr. Oliver Nwachukwu officiating. Interment of Ashes will be held at a later date in the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Radom, IL. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 110.
Friends may call at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Radom, IL on Thursday from 8 A.M. to the service hour.
Should friends desire, mass offerings or memorials can be made to the St. Michael Cemetery and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
