Robert Goeckel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pucedo Funeral Home on Feb. 27, 2026.
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Robert Ivan Goeckel, 80 years of Vestal, NY who passed away January 23, in Johnson City New York.

Robert (Bob) was born on March 30,1945 in Franklin VA to Albert and Mae Goeckel. He graduated from Johnson City High school and worked as a Utilities Engineer and CSEA Local 648 President for 30 years at SUNY Binghamton. Bob was known as an accomplished Marksman, who holds the unbroken record having shot the most perfect scores in his sporter rifle league. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and motorcyclist. He was a member of the Binghamton Rifle Club, Tioga County Sportsmen's Association, NRA, and Sons of Italy Endicott Lodge. Bob enjoyed spending time outdoors at his hunting camp and riding his motorcycle through the endless hills and valleys of NY and PA. Of the many blessings in his life, he truly treasured the relationships he built. Undeniably he will always be remembered as always having a warm smile and an endless heart.

Robert is survived by his children, Laura and Thomas Campbell, Maria Kolba, Heather and Dennis Anderson, David and Michelle Kinney, Doug Kinney, Brian and Jamie Kinney, and grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, Corey, Kari, Ryan, Alyssa, Connor, Annika, and great grandchildren, Cohenne, Kellan, Theodore, Andrew, Ruby, Everly, Thomas. His brothers Gary and Sandy Goeckel, Larry and Gloria Goeckel, A sister, Suzanne and Nicholas Cavatiao. Many nieces and nephews, and an incredibly special person as a lifelong friend and co-worker, Phil Zulick. He is predeceased by his endlessly loving wife Joan, his parents Albert and Mae Goeckel, and brother Sonny Goeckel, grandson Shaun.

Funeral services will be held Saturday March 21st at 11:30 AM at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc. 1905 Watson Blvd. Endicott, NY, followed by a luncheon at the Sons of Italy, 126 Odell Ave. Endicott, NY.
