PALMYRA - Robert Earl Gust, age 77, of Adrian, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025. Born on April 21, 1947, in Adrian, he was the son of Earl and Marian Kastel Gust and they precede him in death.
At the young age of 16, Robert's entrepreneurial spirit led him to open his own gun store, Collectors Arms, a business he successfully ran until its closure in 1977. His work life included many chapters, from his time at Kastel's Slaughter House to working at Bethany Day Care, and ultimately retiring from the LISD School District, where he dedicated his years to serving the students there. Robert had a deep love for art, history, and fine antiques
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Ellen Svestka Gust; his daughters, Nicole Sykes (David) of North Carolina and Danielle Tobin (Matt) of Adrian; his grandchildren, Lizzie Turgeon, Megan Turgeon, and Leona Tobin of Adrian, as well as grandsons Christian Sykes, Ashton Sykes, and Braxton Sykes of North Carolina. Robert also leaves behind his special pets, Hannah and Mila, who brought him much joy in his later years.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, dedication, and a life well-lived will be remembered by his family and friends and those who knew him.
Visitation for Robert will be held at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at which time funeral services will take place. Pastor Ron Sparks will officiate and cremation will follow.
